In eastern Setagaya there is a cafe with a rather odd name. The owner of the Selfish American country and cafe doesn't think Americans are idiots, instead he chose a name for his shop that reads poorly in English. The word "selfish" can have an ironically positive meaning. Japanese women who live with their parents rather than marry act "wagamama" or selfishly, in the face of the social pressures to marry and conform to the social norm in Japan. In the same way, America is the ultimate wagamama nation or selfish country since everyone can pursue their own destiny here. People who pass the Selfish American country and cafe need to realize that sometimes being selfish is cool.
