Travelers utilize gym through airport

workout or wait in airport.JPG

"Flight 167 to Orlando has been delayed due to storms and bad weather patterns" You have most likely heard announcments similiar to this one at some point in your traveling career. It happens all the time either the weather is bad, the runways are packed, the planes aren't working right whatever... in all cases you have to sit in that uncomfortable terminal frustrated about updates that only prolong your waiting. Why not go to the gym? It turns out lots of airports have gyms that are just a short taxi ride away and a few even have them inside or in nearby airport hotels. Kevin Gillotti is someone who needed to stay in shape for duathlon competitions and hated waiting at airports so he started on his airport gyms web site. His website lists more than 50 health clubs in or around airports in the US and even Canada. There are two for Midway and O'hare airports in illinois for example. Next time you take a flight check to see if one is near an airport in your flight plan.

Paris - most vital connecting point

paris.jpg

Not fair...Paris is already the city of romance and now gets the award for the most vital connecting point for International air travel! Paris just has it all! In close second is Anchorage? Yeah that's right Alaska! The place has more animals then people and beats New York. Next in line is London, Singapore and New York. Whatever, researchers found that the busiest locations aren't always the most important for the entire network. This information may seem just for show but it actually helps with understanding the flow of travelers which is helpful in studying the potential movement of new diseases.
Still I bet Paris is really sucking it up.

North Beach Fl. rated best beach by Dr. Beach

best beach.jpg

Stephen P. Leatherman, or Dr. Beach, one of the nation's most recognizible authorities on beach quality and ratings has rated North Beach in Fort DeSoto Park as this years winner for beach of the year. North Beach lets beach goers bask in 900 untouched acres and seven miles of faultless beaches. The beach ranked highest because of its lush sugar sands and dunes as well as others categories in Dr. Beach's 50 criteria. Second place was claimed by the not so well known Outer Banks of Ocracoke Island in North Carolina. Third place was given to Hanalei Bay Kauai in Hawaii. Yahoo's online survey of top 10 beaches had different results with Waikiki beach, Hawaii in first place followed by Key West, Florida. I guess there's a difference between best and favorite.
