RevoPower Wheel Gas Powered Bicycle
August 10, 2006 | Bikes
The RevoPower Wheel is a really cool new invention that makes your regular foot powered bicycle into a Gas Powered Bicycle while letting you travel cheaply, efficiently, and easily. The RevoPower Wheel is simply a 25cc two-stroke gas-powered engine and gears within the front wheel of a bicycle. Revo says it can be installed on any bicycle by any person with very basic mechanical skills.

All you have to do is select your bike (most bicycles with 26" wheels will work), remove your old wheel, open your new wheel, and install your new wheel. Sounds pretty simple to me. Your just replacing it! Your new Gas Powered Bicycle can now travel for 200 miles per gallon at a top speed of 20 mph. To start the engine simply start peddling while the wheel can be used manually or motorized at any time. The RevoPower Wheel is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2007 retailing around $400, but you can reserve your wheel today at Revo.

The comfortable bigha bike is A rolling work of art
December 14, 2005 | Bikes
Bicycling is a very beneficial form of transport. Whether commuting or sightseeing, you will see, hear and feel more. The truth is
that most bicycles are uncomfortable and designed for racing even while most bicyclists don’t race. Racing designs trade comfort and durability to try and get every bit of speed out of the bike. Do you need that? You're not competing in the Tour De France! The Bigha bike is designed for comfort and provides a full seat with seat back compared to the a regular bike where you sit on a tiny seat and have to lean forward in that annoying crouch position. In the Bigha bike you sit upright so your hands and wrists carry no body weight. Some bike features are a LCD display with back light for nighttime viewing which gives you an update on everything from temperature to speed, a 100 decibel alarm, a button-operated horn and many more. Check out all the features here. Comfort doesn't come cheap as these bikes cost from $3,900-$4,600. But hey! This ain't nothin like grandma's bike. (even though she's like to ride it)
Masterflex fuel cell bike
November 29, 2005 | Bikes
Masterflex, a german company that first developed the prototype of a fuel cell powered bicycle in 2004, received there first order for the bikes from Herten, a city in North Rhine Whestpalia. These Masterflex fuel cell bikes are based on the Swizzbee 50c electric bike, which uses a Masterflex 250-watt PEM fuel cell fueled by 45 grams of hydrogen stored in a Hera metal hydride system to power a 250-watt electric motor. This kind of fuel cell provides enough energy to move the bike up to 120 kilometers, about 75 miles.
SportVue MC2 motorcycle display- no need to look down
November 8, 2005 | Bikes
When you think about the SportVue MC2 motorcycle display, $389, think fighter airplanes... Data is projected into their helmet visor, much like telemetric data for motorcyclists (like speed, gears and even avoid radar traps) is transmitted into the glass display right in front of them. This will definitely make a riding a motorcycle much safer!

Yamaha FC-me (Special exhibition model: prototype)
October 5, 2005 | Bikes
The "Yamaha Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) System" uses a liquid methanol-water solution for fuel, which eliminates the need for a converter and a pressurized (fuel) tank and thus makes it possible to create a lightweight system for a small vehicle requiring power in the 1 kW or less range without compromising on the bike's power. Optimizing the control parameters for the fuel cell system has allowed for an energy conversion rate for the FC-me that is 1.5 times that of the FC06 PROTO, and re-evaluation of the body components has lowered the bike to only 69 kg. The bike will be available for lease as of September 16 of this year.

The Go bike
July 29, 2005 | Bikes

Is this just another fad? It just looks to good to be another scooter. This is the new Go Bike from Japan and it dreams of being the new scooter of the biking world. And if it isn't that big of a success? Well at least it looks really funky. Go bike fold ups, is strong, durable and can take a hard ride. This completely custom bike comes in colors like grey, orange, blue and green and features parts like the Gobell and a sharp 3 tone seat. Urbanites will eat these up. That is if they can understand Japanese.
Honda Cub
July 26, 2005 | Bikes

Sam Jilbert designed this hydrogen fuel cell concept based on a Honda Cub Design. He explains: "I've based this concept around the Honda Cub, which has been around for decades and is still very popular on the continent with locals and tourists alike. The Cub is very practical but this concept takes it to a new level, with a provocative image and being environmentally responsible, the new Cub should appeal to young city professionals and the young trendy market in general." Who knows if we'll ever see motorcycles shaped like that on the streets? But it's still a really cool concept. Hopefully we will see this sleek, pro-enviromental concept in real life someday, or something close to it.

bombadier embrio concept
July 26, 2005 | Bikes

Remember the Segway Human transporter? Bombadier, the same company that produces wave runners and airplanes created a similar concept that uses gyroscope technology to balance riders while they ride but includes a more sporty style absent in the Segway. Though this prototype may or may not make production it's designed to be a guess at transportation in the year 2025. The Embrio is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell which creates power by mixing hydrogen and oxygen, creating only water as a by product. Other advanced technologies in the concept's design include infrared night vision and an active suspension. A small wheel on the front keeps the Embrio stable when you start or stop but retracts after you hit 12 miles per hour.
