Created for "tree-huggers", Dutch designer Dré Wapenaar thought up this singular construction in 1998 for British activists so they could sleep among the branches of trees they were trying to save.
The Treetent is made of steel, canvas and plywood and measures 15 feet high by nearly 9 feet in diameter. Don't let the picture fool you, the Treetent is large enough to fit an entire family. It's currently on exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York show called "SAFE: Design Takes On Risk."

When I first saw a picture of this thing I knew I had to post it. Topeak Bikamper is the perfect addition to any mountain bikers arsenal. This 1 person tent hooks on to the front of your bike and out of the way while you ride. When it's time to take that much needed nap or spend the night, just detach your front wheel and put it on one end. The rest of your bike doubles as the structure for the other side. With a canopy constructed of waterproof coated 45D ripstop nylon and ventilation provided by three mesh windows this tent provides a durable, comfortable shelter useful for bike tourists anywhere.
